GFSC CEO contract renewal for a further 3 years

07 Oct 22

The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (“GFSC”) is pleased to confirm the renewal of Kerry Blight’s appointment as its Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) for a further term of 3 years with effect from the 1st October 2022.

Mr. Blight was first appointed CEO in October 2019. During his tenure at the GFSC, Mr. Blight has successfully established greater engagement with key stakeholders across Gibraltar and reorganised the organisation’s structure to support the delivery of the GFSC’s regulatory objectives and speed to market commitment.

“Kerry hit the ground running from the start and has made a substantial positive impact to the GFSC and local industry in the last three years. Soon after his appointment he led the Commission through the process of Brexit and the global pandemic. Both events were a challenge to all at the GFSC, but under Kerry’s steer and the deployment of our IT and operational business continuity infrastructure, the GFSC was able to continue as usual with minimal disruption to stakeholders’ needs” - said the Chairman of the GFSC Stephen Haddrill.

The Minister for Digital and Financial Services, Albert Isola added: “Kerry has a wealth of experience from his many years in leading roles with financial services firms in Gibraltar and this enabled Kerry to make an immediate and positive impact on the organisation. I am sure he will continue to lead the GFSC in protecting consumers and the reputation of Gibraltar. It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure working with Kerry, who has significantly strengthened the GFSC, ensuring it will be well placed to face the challenges of the future. His appointment continues to enjoy the support and confidence of the industry”.

For his part, Mr. Blight himself said: “I am honoured to have extended my contract and I look forward to working with our stakeholders locally and internationally to ensure the GFSC continues to fulfil its very important role in Gibraltar’s strong and healthy financial services industry. I am grateful to the team at the GFSC for their dedication and hard work- they are the people who make the difference”.
