The FSC is today issuing revised Anti-Money Laundering Guidance Notes. This revised version replaces the original Guidance Notes which were issued in September 1996, following the bringing into effect of the Criminal Justice Act 1995.
The revised notes have been prepared by the FSC in conjunction with the financial sector with whom there has been extensive consultation. The notes provide the relevant supervisory and regulatory guidance material to the financial community. In addition the notes have been adopted by the following bodies as relevant guidance :
- Association of Gibraltar Insurers and Managers,
- Association of Trust and Company Managers,
- Gibraltar Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Managers,
- Gibraltar Bankers' Association,
- Gibraltar Insurance Intermediaries' Association,
- Gibraltar Society of Chartered and Certified Accountancy Bodies.
The notes have been welcomed by the industry particularly as they offer greater clarity on a number of operational issues. The revised notes brings Gibraltar's practice into line with that currently applied in the UK.
Authorised and licensed institutions will shortly be receiving a complimentary copy of the notes. Members of the public and institutions wanting additional copies can download an order form from the FSC's web-site at "www.fsc.gi/notes.htm". The cost per copy is £30. A £3.00 postage and handling charge will be levied on deliveries outside of Gibraltar.
Updates to the notes will be made easier due to the loose leaf binder format and these will be available by way of download from the web-site address given above.
