GFSC’s #FreeTheKnee campaign raises nearly £6,000 for Prostate Cancer Support Group Gibraltar

The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission recently organised its annual #FreeTheKnee campaign in aid of Prostate Cancer Support Group Gibraltar (PCSG). This year nearly £6,000 was raised for the charity.

#FreeTheKnee encouraged individuals and organisations to wear shorts to work instead of their usual business attire to raise awareness for PCSG. This took place on Friday 6th July. 

Organisations also held their own events, which included bake sales, leg waxing and even a spongathon at the GFSC.

Further awareness was raised through social media with #FTK’s Corporate Challenge – Taking a photo in shorts in an unusual location. The challenge was won this year by Sovereign Trust (Gibraltar).

With the support of local companies, the GFSC organised a raffle and through this raised over £1300.00.
Heidi Bocarisa, The GFSC’s Director of Strategy & Planning, said: “We are extremely proud and humbled by the level of charity and community work that our staff participate in, and as an organisation we continue to encourage corporate social responsibility and awareness. We would like to thank all those who participated and supported #FTK.”

The event received a great response from the local community, as well as from financial services regulators abroad, and we look forward to next year’s #FreeTheKnee.

2. Prostate Cancer Support Group Gibraltar seeks to limit the impact of prostate cancer and other prostate diseases to all men, their partners and their families. They seek to prioritise the vital need for prostate problems to be detected and treated as early as possible and represent the interests of all men diagnosed with prostate cancer and other prostate diseases. Their overall mission is to find ways and means to promote quality of life for prostate cancer patients and their families.
