The FSC has announced that leading local lawyer Robert Vasquez has been
appointed a member of the Commission. Mr Vasquez, a partner of Triay &
Triay, has previously been Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in
Gibraltar and a member of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council. He is
taking over from James Neish QC who is leaving the board of the Commission
on the expiry of his term of office, having served for six years.
Mr Vasquez joins six other non executive Commission members, including senior
local banker Franco Cassar and Pepe Caruana, managing partner of Deloitte &
Touche in Gibraltar.
In announcing the appointment Marcus Killick, Chairman of the Commission
said;
"We are delighted that someone of Robert's experience has agreed to join us.
As international expectations of regulators increase it is vital that we have
non executive members who can bring real value to further improving the way we
operate. Robert is such a person"
Marcus Killick also paid tribute to the work of James Neish saying:
"I am particularly grateful to James for the sound advice and support he has
given."
