Bogus Bank Letters – ‘Credit Suisse’

The Financial Services Commission has today issued a warning to the public regarding bogus letters received by Gibraltar residents.

Credit Suisse (Gibraltar) has informed this Commission that it had received numerous enquires from local residents claiming they had received a letter from Credit Suisse Zurich.

It has been established that Credit Suisse in Zurich has sent no such letters and it is therefore likely that these have been sent with intent to obtain recipients’ personal and financial details, which could be used to perpetrate a fraud or identity theft.

The FSC therefore urges the public not to respond to these letters. Any persons who have received one of these letters are asked to contact the Financial Crime Unit of the Royal Gibraltar Police on Tel. 200 74373 or 200 72500 after office hours.
